We utilised technology to make life easier for Jamaicans by expanding
online access to government services, introducing free Wi-Fi, and enhancing
internet connectivity in schools and communities. Whether you are applying
for a passport or registering a business, things are faster, simpler, and more
accessible than ever.
Here is what we have done:
● Put more government services online, including applications for
passports, traf昀椀c tickets, tax payments, and business registration.
● Launched the Jamaica Business Gateway, giving Jamaicans access to
over 150 government services in one place.
● Expanded free public Wi-Fi, installing more than 300 community
hotspots in town centres across the island.
● Made it easier to receive social support, using digital platforms to send
payments faster and more securely.
● Installed high-speed internet in over 700 schools and government
buildings, helping students and civil servants connect and learn.
● Formed the Caribbean’s 昀椀rst Arti昀椀cial Intelligence Task Force, putting
Jamaica ahead in planning for the future of tech.
● Modernised the RGD, making it simpler to register births, marriages, and
other important documents.
● Introduced a new National Digital ID, so Jamaicans can more easily
access services and bene昀椀ts, without long lines or red tape.
