introduced to focus on rehabilitation and second chances.
● Legal Aid Clinics expanded, with mobile units to reach
rural communities.
● New and better courts built. Family Courts were added
in four parishes, and many others were repaired and
upgraded.
● The court system was modernised. Cases can now be
tracked digitally, and individuals can provide evidence
remotely when necessary.
● Five new Parish Justice Centres opened, making it easier
for people to get help with legal issues close to home.
● A new division was created for Social Justice, offering
services like mediation, counselling, and victim support.
● Over 124,000 counselling sessions provided to nearly
13,000 children and adults facing trauma and mental
health challenges.
● The Child Diversion Programme helped over 2,300 youth
avoid court by offering mentorship and second chances.
● More prosecutors and legal staff were added, helping to
speed up court cases and improve the delivery of justice.
● More judges are being hired across all levels of the
judiciary. Appeal Court Judges doubled, and the number
of Masters in Chambers quadrupled.
● Parish Court backlogs have been cleared, and the Court
of Appeal is clearing cases faster than ever.
● More Justices of the Peace and Notaries trained and
appointed, doubling access to trusted community
leaders.
● Over 7,200 Jamaicans got their criminal records
expunged, giving them a chance to move forward and
start over.
