● Public transportation has been upgraded. We added
270 new JUTC buses and 昀椀xed 105 more to make
commuting easier.
● Cleaner, cheaper transport. We introduced
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, which are more
environmentally friendly and reduce fuel costs.
● Less theft, more savings. New technology at JUTC has
saved the government up to J$500 million by cutting
fuel theft.
● Launched Jamaica’s 昀椀rst rural school bus system,
making it safer and more affordable for students to get
to school.
● Lower bus fares for everyone. Smartcard users save up
to 50% on JUTC rides.
● Brought electricity to rural areas, lighting up homes
and communities that were left out for too long.
● Expanded the prepaid electricity programme. This
helps low-income families cover the cost of wiring and
gives monthly help to keep the lights on.
